Walking in His Footsteps: Letting Go of Vanity and Embracing Jesus ✝️

"He who follows Me walks not in darkness."

John 8:12

We Mommas have a thousand things tugging at our hearts every day—dirty dishes 🍽️, little squabbles, stretching a tight budget 💸, worrying if we’re doing enough… or being enough. And somewhere in between all that, we long for peace. Not just a quiet house kind of peace, but that deep, soul-level rest that only God can give. 🕊️

Jesus says plainly, “Follow Me.” Not just admire Me. Not just talk about Me. Follow.
That means living like Him. Loving like Him. Dying to self, moment by moment.

It’s not fancy theology or heady books (though those have their place); it’s the life of Jesus that gives light to our darkness. His Spirit in us—that is where joy and clarity begin. ✨

But here’s the hard truth…

Too often, we settle for shadows. We chase vanities without even realizing it. Social media “likes” 👍, picture-perfect homes 🏡, success in business, compliments from others...

We want to feel accomplished. We want to be noticed.
But oh, sweet Momma, what does it all amount to if we’re not rooted in grace?

You can know every quote, every saint’s feast day, every Bible verse… and still be empty inside.
The Lord doesn’t ask us for intellect. He wants humble hearts—hearts that say:
“Jesus, I don’t have much, but I’ll give You everything.” 🙏

So what is true wisdom for us?

Especially as Mommas raising children 👶, building homes 🧺, and fighting daily distractions?

To love God above all else.
To serve Him—not just in grand gestures—but in the folding of laundry,
in the patient correction of a child,
in the quiet choosing of forgiveness.

It’s not wise to crave riches or status—they vanish.
It’s not wise to seek honor—it’s hollow.
It’s not wise to follow every desire of the body—those leave us hungrier than before.
It’s not wise to fear death, but ignore eternal life. 🕯️

The world screams for our attention. But eternity whispers.
And only still hearts hear it. 💗

Let’s Be Mommas Who Live for Eternity 🌿

Let’s fix our eyes not on what fades, but on what lasts.
Our children’s souls. Our marriages. Our daily “yes” to God.

All of that is hidden manna—sweet, sustaining, sacred. 🍞

And when your mind wanders during prayer (as mine often does), don’t despair. Just bring it back.

Every little effort is a step toward heaven.
Jesus sees you.
He loves your clumsy prayers, your tired tears, your messy attempts to be holy.

Just keep walking. Keep following.

Vanity passes. Jesus remains.

Stay rooted, dear Momma. You’re not walking alone.
May Jesus and Mary walk beside you always. 💒
